SEO (search engine optimisation) is simply how your website gets found on Google. We get a lot of questions about it, so here are straight, no-jargon answers to the most common ones.
Do I need to submit my site to search engines?
Usually not. Google and other search engines find your pages automatically by following links. A single link from an already-indexed page is often enough to get you discovered — and getting indexed should never cost you a cent.
What about “paid search submission”?
Some companies sell “paid submission” — don’t get sucked in. It costs nothing to be indexed by the major search engines, so it shouldn’t cost you either.
Can links from other websites hurt my ranking?
Good-quality inbound links actually help. Normal linking won’t hurt you — if it could, competitors would abuse it, so Google doesn’t penalise you for links pointing to your site.
Are blogs good for SEO?
It’s really the content that counts, and a blog is just an easy way to publish helpful content regularly — especially if you’re not technical. Fresh, useful posts give Google more reasons to send you visitors. (That’s exactly why we include a blog in our packages.)
How do I make my site more search-engine friendly?
Often the simplest win is more good content. Helpful, on-topic text adds keywords and phrases for Google to find — think of each one as a new doorway for traffic.
What is conversion rate optimisation (CRO)?
Getting visitors is half the battle; CRO is about turning more of them into enquiries and customers — through clear layouts, strong calls to action and testing what works best. A higher conversion rate means a better return on every visitor and every rand you spend on marketing.
